WHAT THE BOOK IS ABOUT:
A Bedtime Prayer for Peace is a children’s book that promotes unity, celebrates diversity and encourages children to pray for peace and a better future. The simple poetic verses and colorful illustrations allow parents to talk to children about sensitive issues in a meaningful and appropriate way.
WHY WE WROTE IT:
Given the political climate, my sister Akila and I decided to write a children’s book to teach young ones to say a prayer each night for others around the world – to pray for health and wellness, knowledge, protection, love and peace. We also wanted our main character to have a visible disability so that as parents sit down with their children and read this goodnight story, they could also raise awareness about children living with disabilities.
