Dear Readers: Masha’Allah, it’s amazing to me how many Muslim writers are poets (a sign of deep, introspective thinking). Sahira Javaid, who’s also currently writing a YA fantasy, provided the following information in order to introduce the readers of the Muslim Writers Club to a volume of poetry she wrote to help others overcome adversity. Please show your support to Muslim writers by reading their books and telling others about the ones you like.

WHAT THE BOOK IS ABOUT:
Bitter Sweet is a collection of poems that focuses on overcoming adversity with a daring and candid voice. It brings awareness to matters such as humanity, drinking, how to handle conflict and poverty. As each bite of dark chocolate is bitter, you cannot forget its sweetness.
WHY I WROTE IT:
I wanted to show that we all connect by emotions and that we’re not alone. I hoped it would inspire others and give them hope.
We’d do anything for a single laugh
We’d say anything for your joy to last
We’d do anything for many years
We’d say anything for your ‘I love you’ dears

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Sahira has been writing poetry since she was fifteen. Most days she’s playing with and taking care of her two brothers. Fond of animals, nature and learning, she passes time with researching and reading about the world around her, nature’s healing ways, chatting with friends and making others laugh every chance she gets.
