Dear Readers: If you liked Bitter Sweet (last week’s Featured Book), you’ll be sure to love Hot Ice, by Sahira Javaid, as well. Sahira, a poet who’s currently writing a YA fantasy, provided the following information in order to introduce the readers of the Muslim Writers Club to a second volume of poetry she hopes will inspire those going through difficult times. Please show your support to Muslim writers by reading their books and telling others about the ones you like.

NAME OF BOOK:

Hot Ice

AUTHOR NAME & WEBSITE:

Sahira Javaid

WHAT THE BOOK IS ABOUT:

Hot Ice is a journey of healing and identity. It shares the experience of love, pain and the effects of society.  Hot Ice asks you to test your limits like the harshness of fire and the parallel between the vulnerability and strength of ice.

WHY I WROTE IT:

I wanted to show that we all connect by emotions and that we’re not alone. I hoped it would inspire others and give them hope.

AN EXCERPT:

In the moment

Where people dream

Want to say what we mean

I can empathize

And will try to make you realize

Give me a chance to say

What they wanted to say so long ago!

The meaning is absolute

And there’s nothing I wouldn’t do

WHERE TO BUY IT:

Amazon.com

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Sahira has been writing poetry since she was fifteen. Most days she’s playing with and taking care of her two brothers. Fond of animals, nature and learning, she passes time with researching and reading about the world around her, nature’s healing ways, chatting with friends and making others laugh every chance she gets.
