VIDEO: Native-born American Muslim Women Writers – An Introduction

Do you know Sister Layla Abdullah-Poulos? If not, you should. She maintains the Native-born American Muslims website and has created a series of YouTube videos focusing on female American Muslim writers of African-American, Euro-American, and Latino-American backgrounds. The purpose of her research is to explore “how their unique American experiences and Islamic observances influence them and, ultimately, their artistic expressions.”

Below, is an introduction to the video series. In the weeks ahead, I will be posting some of Sister Layla’s other videos as well (click here for a list of all videos posted on this site).

Enjoy the video, and be sure to share it with your friends, too!
